The three-day international conference on the theme ‘Sustainable Business Practices for Rural Development’ organised by Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Indian Council of Business Education (ICBE), concluded today with valedictory at University of Jammu.
Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and Prof. Jigar Mohammad, Dean Research Studies was the chief guests on the occasion. In his presidential remarks Prof. R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU stressed on the role and challenges of sustainability and competitive advantage in global era. Prof. Sharma, in his remarks appreciated the efforts of Udhampur Campus in showcasing the importance of sustainable development and impressed upon the delegates to implement it and reach out to the marginalized rural sector. He was of the opinion that researchers should believe in vertical growth and should produce truthful and flawless research with complete clarity. He also shared with the gathering the achievements of faculty of University of Jammu.
While giving conference remarks Prof. Jigar Mohammad, JU congratulated the organisers for organising the international conference on such a relevant theme in today’s fast emerging world.
The third day of the conference started with the four simultaneous technical sessions on the various sub themes including self help groups and micro-financing, consumer behaviour and marketing research, corporate social responsibility and sustainability practices. In the last plenary session of the conference, Dr. Vijay Periera, from Australian University, Dubai Campus, Wollolong and Dr. Yama Temouri, from Aston University, UK shared their views on the topic how not to irritate the editors in which they discussed what needs to be kept in mind before publishing a research work in a journal.
Earlier the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, Conference secretary while Dr. Rupa Mahajan, lecturer, Distance Education presented the Conference Report. This conference comprised of three plenary sessions, nine technical sessions and a pre-conference workshop on Meta- Analysis. More than hundred eminent researchers and much-admired academicians belonging to various departments of universities and institutions across India and abroad were present in the conference.
A total of 62 papers were presented during the conference. Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Rector Udhampur Campus and Conference Director of the SBP4RD 2018 presented the formal vote of thanks. She thanked all the dignitaries who spared their valuable time for being part of this conference.
The delegates also shared their three day conference experience. Dr. Kamani Dutta, lecturer, department of Commerce, Udhampur Campus was the stage coordinator of the valedictory function.
