One Day Awareness Workshop on “Health and Sanitation” Organised By Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu In Collaboration With University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UOJSPVF) and J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Science and Technology, Udhampur Under Udhampur Campus Community Facilitation Centre (UCCFC)

One day workshop organised by Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UOJSPVF) and J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Science and Technology, Udhampur under Udhampur Campus Community Facilitation Centre (UCCFC) on the occasion of 75th ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahahotsav’, under the visionary guidance of Prof. Umesh Rai, esteemed Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu organised one day awareness workshop on “ Health and Sanitation”.
Professor Parikshat Singh Manhas, Rector, Udhampur Campus was the Chief Guest on this occasion and Mrs. Shruti Khanna, District Coordinator, J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Udhampur was the Guest of Honour for this event held on 25th July 2022.
Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Rector, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu briefed about the vision of holding such events. He emphasized that such events are held under the initiative of Udhampur Campus Community Facilitation Centre (UCCFC) and UCCFC has conducted various activities under for the welfare and upbringing of the society specifically students, women, and vulnerable groups. He congratulated the participants and organizers for their participation and organization of such a humongous event and advised the participants to actively participate in such awareness workshops for their overall development. He appreciated the resource persons for delivering such an interactive sessions with the target group. Briefing about the futuristic initiative, Prof. Manhas, informed that the Udhampur Campus is always keen to organize several skill development/ workshops for the benefit of people of Garnai area.
Earlier the workshop began with an introduction by master of ceremony, Dr. Kamani Dutta lecturer, Commerce, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu. Dr. Shikha Jearth, Medical Officer (RBSK) PHC Tikri and Dr. Arti Bharat, Medical Officer (ISM) PHC Garhi were the key resource persons for the workshop. There were 130 participants including men and women from adjoining villages of the Campus and students of Udhampur Campus.
The first session of the workshop was conducted by the resource person Dr. Shikha Jearth, Medical Officer (RBSK) PHC Tikri. In her lecture she explained the importance of hygiene and antenatal care which serves as a key entry point for a pregnant women to receive a broad range of services and should be initiated at the onset of pregnancy. During the second session, Dr. Arti Bharat, Medical Officer (ISM) PHC Garhi, resource person explained the importance of health and sanitation. The session focussed on the developments around sustainable sanitation and how Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) fits within this.
There was an open group discussion including questions and answers session. Valedictory session was handled by Dr. Mamta Sharma, I/C Commerce, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu.
Mrs. Shruti Khanna, District Coordinator, Udhampur, in her address spoke about the importance of such workshops in refining one’s overall well-being. She advised the participants to take maximum benefits from such workshops and strengthen women role and participation in the economic and community affairs, by enhancing the frequency of such sensitization programmes at regular intervals.
Prominent attendees included Mrs. Ashu Sharma, District Development Council, Shri. Balwan Singh, Chairmam Block Development Council Garnai, Mrs. Nisha Sharma, Block Development Council Tikri, Smt Santost Kumari, Sarpanch,Phangial and Mandal Pradhan, Tikri, Malad, Smt. Santosh Rani, Vice President, Mahila Morcha, Udhampur, Smt. Shiv Kumari, Retired Instructor in social Welfare Department, Garnai, Garnai joined the event.
Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Rector, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu presented saplings to all the prominent guests.
The formal vote of thanks of the event was presented by Dr. Ritika Sambyal, lecturer, Commerce, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu.
